`lstat /tmp/ray_tmp_mount: no such file or directory` while starting head node

While running ray up, I get the following message:

lstat /tmp/ray_tmp_mount: no such file or directory
Shared connection to 3.239.222.170 closed.
  New status: update-failed
  !!!
  SSH command failed.
  !!!

  Failed to setup head node.

I launched ray using the same configuration yesterday and ran ray down and ray up again with the same outcome. What further information would be useful to help diagnose what’s going on?

For what it’s worth, I launched again with cache_stopped_nodes: False and it started fine.
